Honored at the celebration dinner were a Menlo Park resident for achievements in communication and leadership and two members of SRI Organon Toastmasters.

Margo McAuliffe, a former Menlo Atherton High School math teacher, received the club’s Communication and Leadership Award. After a career in teaching, Ms. McAuliffe found her calling first in teaching math to Kenyan students, and then in raising funds to build a school for girls in Kenya. Through her passion and determination, the needs of the Kenyan students have been made known to the community at large. Contributions to Kenya Help, the foundation she helped establish, provide funds for building the St Francis Secondary School for Girls. Eventually, the school will accommodate 320 students. Its first class will graduate this November.
